Ghost of Honor - Jay Lake

Jay Lake, Portland-area SFF author, Orycon 35 Special Guest of Honor, raconteur and friend to many, many members of Orycon, died this year just shy of his 50th birthday. Norwescon and Orycon were his "home" conventions; he requested that whichever one followed closest after his death hold his memorial.

And so, Jay is our beloved Ghost of Honor.

Jay Lake wrote ten novels (with more to be published posthumously) and countless short stories. Jay won the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer, and was a multiple nominee for the Hugo and World Fantasy Awards.

"I don't think there is Special Dying Person Wisdom. What there is is Special Dying Person Focus. There's the famous concept that nothing concentrates the mind like the prospect of a hanging. That's me. My mind is concentrated."
--Jay Lake in the Oregonian, 2013
